להלן הדיווח של אביבה לביא ולינק לגלריית התמונות :
I just returned from biking 380 kilometers from Ben Gurion Airport to Eilat in 3 days with the El Al cycling group. WOW!!!
We were 14 (including our 2 drivers) and I was the only woman (I was called "yaldah" and I really felt like a girl, that's what bike riding feels like to me).
While I continue to ride with a great group of mountain bikers almost every week…however, I have now discovered the attractiveness of "road biking."
You can fly!!! The last hour of the trip we were biking at 40 kilometers an hour and practically flew into Eilat!
We road as a group with 2 escorting cars making sure we were safe. Once we got through the early morning traffic we road peacefully to Kiryat Gat for breakfast. The tuna fish sandwiches prepared by Arcafe never tasted so good!!! We arrived at Kibbutz Tzeelim after the first 130 kilometers feeling pleased, a bit hot and tired but definitely ready for more….
The group has been doing this for years and they know more or less the route, the ups and downs, ins and outs. Each member made it their business to help, teach, show, prepare and cheer me on. The most difficult part of the journey was the down hill descent from "Maaleh Acrabim" where you must hold on to the brakes for dear life…

We laughed a lot, soaked our bodies in the Jacuzzi, stuffed ourselves with yummy food and made sure we were well rested and ready to wake up at the crack of dawn and be on our bikes every morning at 6:30 AM – the weather was perfect and one of the many gifts we received.
While I was not the strongest in the group, I was able to keep up the pace and never once held back the group. We road closely part of the time, but not as a peloton (cluster of riders) since we are not a racing team, but by the end of the journey I felt like a semi-pro….ready to take on the next challenge.
As I was climbing a mountain outside of Yerucham, I thanked God (as I do on every ride) for good health and the "zchut;" I am still on a high from the experience. The best was Hezie greeting us in Eilat and sharing a wonderful celebration weekend together…… the pics tell the story so you can get a feel for it.
